Radon is created from the natural breakdown of the traces of uranium in soil, rock and water. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer among non-smokers.

Radon enters the home through the soil and is then dispersed throughout the home as the warm air rises. This is process is nearly continuous. 

Approximately 1 in 3 homes in the Kansas City area tested are above the EPA guidance. Radon cannot be seen, smelled or tasted and there are no symptoms of exposure.
